Help Us Keep Art and Healing Alive for Our Veterans – Support DJDF Today!

David J. Drakulich Art Foundation for Freedom of Expression (DJDF) must raise $25,000+ by August 1st to continue delivering life-changing arts and humanities programming to veterans and military families in 2025.

Due to fluctuations in funding, our transformative programs—Veterans Art Project (VAP), Northern Nevada Veterans Writing Project (NNVWP), and 1000 Cranes Papermaking Workshops—are at risk. Your financial support is crucial to keeping these creative lifelines alive.

Why Your Support Matters

DJDF provides weekly, no-cost visual art and writing workshops for veterans of all ages, including those residing at the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home (NNSVH). These programs aren’t just about art—they’re about wellness, reintegration, community, and purpose.

Take “Bob,” a veteran with Parkinson’s. Initially shy, he began coloring as therapy. Soon he progressed to collage and now freehand drawing. “They are exactly what I needed,” he says. “I enjoy creating new things.” His story reflects the quiet power of the arts to awaken hope, creativity, and connection.

Give What You Can—Every Dollar Helps

  • $75 – Art supplies for one month of VAP open studio
  • $100 – Supplies for one FUN-Damental Art Course
  • $200–$600 – Rent and instruction costs to keep weekly programs running
  • $3,500 – One month of general operations
  • $5,000 – Two-day papermaking workshop with artist Drew Cameron (June 2025)
  • $25,000 – Sustain all programming & operational costs for 3 months
